Lankarama Vihara “Stupa” Opening Ceremony

From November 5 th to November 12 th 2006 , the Buddhists living in Sydney and around Australia will have an unique opportunity to gain merits by making offerings to the recently constructed “Stupa” at the Lankarama Buddhist Vihara.

The Lankarama Buddhist temple is a place of devotion, worship and meditation for all Buddhists. It is a place of assembly for people interested in the teachings of the Buddha and the practice of Buddhism. It is an abode for resident and visiting Buddhist monks.

 

Lankarama conducts religious practices in the Theravada tradition. Lankarama Buddhist temple is managed by the Sri Lankan Buddhist Vihara Association (SLBVA).


 

 

The  Vesak   pandal   built  this  year  at Lankarama  illustrated  the  ‘Themangula'. The  4m (h)  x  4m (w)   pandal   was illuminated    with    1200   colour   bulbs. Creative  art  work  was  by  Chandana Dissanayake  and  Anura  Vithange, designed  and  built  by Gamini Liyadipitiya and his team [more images of Vesak 2003..].

The chief incumbent of Lankarama, Ven Dhammagavesi thero has been awarded with the honourary salutation of ‘Vishavakirthi Sri Saddharma Vagishvara Lokaththachari’ with the consent of the Maha Nayaka Theros of the Three Sects and with the approval of the Department of Cultural Affairs in Sri Lanka.

 

A ceremony to felicitate the Maha Sangha especially the services of Ven Dhammagavesi and to appreciate the services of Dhamma and Sinhala teachers was held at Lankarama temple on 4 March 2003 [more..].
